@Deathmaster: Eikel, je hebt een andere brander gekocht bij de MediaMarkt. Een beter dan waar het hier over gaat. Puik ding en in de VS 300 dollars.. Jij kocht 'm voor € 110. Sukkel..... Zeker met die vette klauwen zelf geinstalleerd zonder bril. Amateur! Comments posted by Jos from Other, December 12, 2003. Rated this writer No rating. |

It's been working well so far with any DVD -R/RW i used. External box with firewire connection to my mac under OSX using toast from Roxio. Original firmware 037 Comments posted by steve from Other, December 09, 2003. Rated this writer 9 of 10. |

* I rated this DVD Writer an 8 before because of some problem encountered with PowerDVD XP skipping when playing VCDs. ForceASPI fixed the problem. It seems that some DVD Writers have problems with newer versions of the System ASPI with certain XP applications. * Also, today, I've successfully burned a Verbatim 4X DVD+R disc with no problem. The only thing I have not tried is a DVD-RW. Comments posted by Rolando Tabora from Other, December 08, 2003. Rated this writer 9 of 10. |

* Bought as Emprex brand, $79 from Fry's. Firmware v043. No burning problem so far with Nero. * Burned DVD+RW media OK (Verbatim & Ridata), DVD+R OK (Fuji & Verbatim), DVD-R media OK (Maxell) * Burned CD-R & CD-RW OK. * Does not read/write CD+G. * Problem playing VCDs with PowerDVD (skipping), no problem playing same VCDs with WinDVD whatsoever. Strange... didn't have this problem with the old Philips DVDRW228. Comments posted by Rolando Tabora from Other, December 08, 2003. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

My comment : this DVD writer sucks. Bought it two days ago, destroyed about ten blanco DVD-R's from different brands. Even after a firmware upgrade, the drive was not able to write one DVD-R succesfully, not even at lower speeds. I'm not afraid to go for a cheaper brand, but this time it was a huge mistake. I read all comments in this forum, even from the BTC guy. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, but I'm very sorry : I'll return this baby to sender asap. My advice : do *not* buy it. I bought This Writer, 2 weeks ago here in Holland, at MediaMarkt, I Burned 12 DVDs and 2 CDR's Perfectly BUT after the 13th DVD the burner just stopped burning, it would complete the process but NONE of the DVDplayer OR the Writer ITSELF would Read it, the Burner Read it as an Empty DVDR, Stange, so i took it back, and the MF told me the would send it back so i'll have to wait about 3 MF Weeks, i Could Almost Cry Right Now :( Comments posted by DeathMaster from Other, December 04, 2003. Never had a problem burning, except for PRINCO disk (sold as noname) - not writing properly after the 3,8 GB limit ... maybe my discs have a problem with "balancing" ? then again maybe not ... M80 Denmark Comments posted by M80 Denmark from Other, December 02, 2003. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

Good performance for a low price. Successfully burned DVD-Rs at 4x and +RWs at 2.4x from different brands, all playable in computer DVD-ROM drive and DVD video player. Refused to burn cheap DVD-R brand (Sky). I have used it with firmware V0043 and did not experience the problems related in earlier comments with older firmware. The rapid succession of firmware updates and the failure to burn some brands suggests however that this drive has not reached stability yet. Comments posted by Marder from Other, December 01, 2003. Got the Emprex version of this drive ... $79 @ Frys ... no rebate needed, Came with firmware 043 burned an ISO of a DVD I had lying around on the +RW disk that was included .. no prob. Burned a small studio8 project on an HP +rw disk (RICOHJPNW01), again no prob. Both DVDs played fine in my KISS DP-500 Came with: Roxio Easy CD/DVD 6 Roxio Photosuite 5 PowerDVD XP 4 PowerProducer MediaShow Not too bad a deal if you ask me ... Giving it an 8 for now, will update when I test more media Comments posted by coutch from Other, November 29, 2003. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

Something strange. After downgrading firmware v045 to v043 from official site (as recommended by some users), some cheap DVD-Rs (not recognized till now) are correctly working, I don't know why. This writer performs well in CD burning, very well with TDK DVD+RW and DVD-RW, I have successfully erased and reburned both of them two or three times without problems. I suppose BTC has not yet reached a definitive solution for calibration. Comments posted by zdomjus from Other, November 21, 2003. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

Bought one, returned it for a different make and model the next day. Just like what many have posted, it burnt one DVD and then failed to recognize and DVDs and longer-play CDs. Despite the good intentions that BTC reps seem to have from what I've noticed in boards, they have a lot of perfecting to do on this one. My new OptoRite wasn't that much more expensive and seems to working great. Comments posted by Flicka from Other, November 18, 2003. Rated this writer 3 of 10. |

This is my second post. As stated previously I have had bad experiences with two drives already (although I suspect my first drive to be damaged by the supplier/retailer and NOT a manufacturing defect ie: dropped at the store). My third drive appears quite happy, though the packaging states firmware rev 0037 I foung 0038 to be installed. Maybe the importer flashed to this revision, but I digress. Have since flashed to 0040 and soon to 0043. I guess I am pleased thusfar with this drive, but I feel like I am waiting for it to die! Paranoia eh?! For more info in regards to this drive etc go here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73806 View posts by Marco from BTC Europe support. I am annoyed the drive has fallen in price by $200NZ ($100US) in just SIX weeks! Changed my rating to a tentative 8. Still wished I bought a Pioneer ;-) Comments posted by Gen0cide from Other, October 28, 2003. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

Got one yesterday at 11am and brought it back to the store at 3pm. This is a very cheap writer but believe me that it performs real poor. Wrote 4 dvd's at 4x (princo 4x) and altough burn operation was a succes there wasn't one that would work. Even the btc drive wasn't able to read them afterwords.Got a plextor px-708a instead, costs double from a btc but is worth every cent. Comments posted by phile from Other, October 26, 2003. This is a great and cheap DVD-burner... not only does it burn dvd's perfectly, it also burns CD-R at 40 x speed! and 24 x CD-RW... so you get a great value for your money... BUT!: Dont upgrade firmware with the windows flash utilities that you can download on BTC homepage... I crashed my burner AND my DVD-rom drives with it! Use MTKFLASH in DOS mode instead! Had to make a HOT SWAP to intall firmware on my DVD-burner again! :( ... and I'm back in business! :) Comments posted by DVDpusher from Other, October 22, 2003. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

I first bought this drive 5 weeks ago first time of use it burned 6 discs on the trot, i then put the rw disc supplied in to format and guess what an error came up "critical error auto callibration" took it back to the shop i bought it from and they replaced it. Now i have to take this one as the same has happened again even with the latest firmware update ver.0.39. Comments posted by Alan Coats from Other, October 11, 2003. Rated this writer 1 of 10. |

Bought it for € 149 a week ago. Started with communication failures on the IDE Port, toasted several DVD+-Rs, DVD+-RW and CDR(W) worked fine. Update to 039 (btceurope.nl) didn´t change anything. A week later while trying to burn a cheap DVD-R Nero 5.5.10.33 reported an error. After this no CD,CDR,CDRW, DVD-Rom or DVD+-R(W) was recognized by that device. I gave it back to the store yesterday, bought an TEAC W 50 DK. Works very well. Comments posted by MAGNIX99 from Other, October 11, 2003. Rated this writer 4 of 10. |

This was my second dvdr. My first is a sony 500 that always have worked very well. I only had it for 5 days. It fail to burn almost all the DVD-R I have tried. Even after I have flashed it with a new firmware, things never went right. I have returned it to the shop where I bought it and bought the new DVDR from LG (4040A). Maybe the problem was a defective machine, but it caused a bad impression and I decided not to try with a new one. lvfocus, (PORTUGAL) Comments posted by lvfocus from Other, October 10, 2003. My first drive had optical alignment issues and would spin up excessively trying to recognize blank DVD media. Firmware rev. 0037. Returned the unit and received a replacement (again firmware rev. 0037). Failed to write to Verbatim 2x DVD-R media. Failed to write successfully to Actima cheapo 2.4x DVD+R media (disc unreadable in sectors). Drive toasted itself trying to write to the supplied RiData DVD+RW disc during formating! Would not recognize any DVD media after that. Have returned that unit. Requested factory firmware revision higher than 0037 (most likely next gen hardware too), but supplier in New Zealand claim can't source!?!? :-( Between the two drives I have tried I have only successfully written 2 DVD+R (Imation 4x media) and many coasters. Not happy. Contemplating getting my money back. Many errors in Win XP event log too when blank DVD+R media inserted into drive. Something like windows detected a controller error on CD-ROM0 etc. Comments posted by Gen0cide from Other, October 09, 2003. Rated this writer 2 of 10. |
