I bought this unit on September 2nd, so far I can not burn any DVD as a CD burner works great, but it is very expensive for just that. The technical support sucks, they don't even reply in the forum and I was for one hour trying their "live support" and they were busy all the time!. Just bought this unit and then returned it as it would not recognize DVD-RW media at all and would not create readable DVD-R video discs. Data discs could be created but could not be read on any other DVD drive. Second unit acting identically. Appears to be a problem with the current firmware (2.15). I'll be returning the second unit tomorrow. Tech. support is currently non-existant as far as I can tell. The IO Magic user forum echoes these problems. Bought $140 (after $30 rebate) from CompUSA over the weekend, has burned 8 DVD-R (CompUSA brand, 1X) and about 10 times on 2 DVD+RW (CompUSA brand, 2.4X), all worked. The DVD-R is rated 1X on the package, but Nero 5.5 sees it as 2X, so I tried 2X on it. It worked on every try (7 of them) so far. Comments posted by monkey from Other, September 02, 2003. Great Drive for $200, And a Firmware upgrade is a must.. This drive does have BurnProof. I would of liked it to come in black, but im fine with the default color.. All in all, Great drive, will burn almost everything Except -Ram. If you have $200, go buy this drive, because dvd burning is the best thing since sliced bread.
