| TS-H552L came with my HP Pavillion a1420n. I have been able to burn CDs with no problem, but I have not been able to burn even one DVD (DVD-R and DVD+RW) so far. I have soem old home movies on DVD that I want to send to family members - this drive is frustrating the %#!! out of me. HP Support told me to re-load the driver (no firmware upgrade is available) - reloading the driver made no improvement. It's still under warranty - but I'm considering giving up and buying a new external burner, to avoid the additional frustration. Comments posted by Arkay from United States, February 23, 2007. | I got a TS-H552L drive in my new HP MediaCenter d4100e. While I have had no problems with DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R or CDs, it seems to be finicky about DVD-RW media (can't get it to work at all). It can't burn either Sony DMW47 DVD-RW V1.1 media, or CompUSA DVD-RW (DVD RW4.7). I have an older Sony multi-format writer which can write these disks fine. One HP Tech said it doesn't "really" work with DVD-RW, and to give up. Another said, it says it supports it so I'll send you a new one. HP sent me a replacement drive and it has the same problem. The PC doctor test fails with "Failure erasing the disc - SCSI Error 3011H." There are no firware upgrades available (OEM: HP, Version: 0614). I just have a few DVD-RW for file transfer & test burns, so I'll just have to stock up on more DVD+RW I guess. Sigh. Comments posted by Jer from United States, May 19, 2006.
