I've used this with a number of portables using a PCMCIA firewire card and it has worked very smothly, however when connecting it to the USB2 port on the same computer, I've had some problems. It reports write error after just so long time it takes for it to destroy the DVD... Sometimes just a simple restart of the drive between burnings helps. I've used mostly DVD-R and DVD-RW. Most of them have been burnt with specified rate but some 4x is reported and burnt as 2x. Overall impression: FireWire - Verygood, USB - poor. Comments posted by Koko from Other, January 11, 2004. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |
