Tell you what happened and you will never buy such garbage. I bought mine less than one year ago. Price was not bad due to the twenty dollars rebates. Final cost was about $85. But this began the nightmare. After open the box, there was a blue sheet which told you to upgrade the BIOS to its newest version. I followed the instruction. Guess what, after I flashed the BIOS, the stupid DVD burner is no longer recognized by computer. No matter how hard I tried. It just won’t work!!! I even can’t flash back to its original version although I saved its original BIOS data. I was so regret for cutting down the UPC code already because I couldn’t return it. I then brought it to the store and explained what happened. They were very nice and exchanged one for me. Any way, I didn’t try to flash it again. Don’t get me wrong! I know what I am doing. I am a computer guy and used several DVD burners. This one is the worst. The one I had since then worked fine until yesterday. By the way, I burned less then ten DVDs!!! Most of the time, it just sits there not even connected. Yesterday, I want to use it to read a DVD it burned several weeks ago. But it can’t read it at all. I tried and tried and it failed. I even used a blank DVD and it can’t read it. I thought it may have some wrong with my home computer, so I brought it to work and tried it. Same thing. I had a SONY sitting right there, same USB port, cable, and it works just fine. One word, don’t try to save twenty bulks and buy this garbage.
