bought from mesh, had trouble when i first intalled.it would write no problem but would not open any folders on a disc(you could see what was on the disc but could not open any programs etc.) the problem i found out was timing.the only way was to put it as primary master and the hard drive as secondry master.you only have to do this with certain motherboards etc. i got an asus 266 running 1200xp prossesor.works great now dvd movie factory 2 no problem studio 8 crashes some time (maybe me not sure) have burned every disc that i have put into it no problem datawrite classic -r o.k. data wirte dvd+r 2.4 o.k. fws -r (cheap from comp. fair) o.k. ricoh +rw o.k. ricoh +r o.k. dvdxcopy great Comments posted by crackerjack from Other, March 16, 2003. Had mine for 1 week bought it from the local computer fair for £235 OEM version. using mero version 10. only problem i have found is that if i put in a dvd i wany to copy it will only let me select a write speed of 1x so now i select the speed then click burn then put in the original disc to copy. other than that had no problems bought 1 speed and 2 speed discs datawrite all worked fine no coasters but i dont copy on the fly.... Ordered from Mesh as recommended. Great Drive £210.33 delivered... OS : Windows 98se Software Used: Nero: v5.5.9.14. - when writing a dvd, on the fly or HD-DVD, the process would finish, finalise etc, but no 'Complete' message....it just kept going...stop the process....played fine. Updraded from Nero.com to v5.10.7 - Problem Fixed DVDxCopy : v1.41. Excellent software. No Problems at all. Does what it's supposed to do. Firmware: Latest firmware. Already flashed. No Probs YET! Media: Bulk Paq Gen4 2x Max. (not bad @ 70p a disc) Superior Gen4 2x max. (FAB @ 90p a disc) Overall: This writer is probably the best for value and performance i've seen, even though i'm a Newbie. I have tested on DVD-R Only at 1x, 2x. Yet to try 4x due to a huge media shortage. No writing problems, very smooth. I think Sony should get a pat on the back for this one. I got this DVD writer mainly because i couldn't get the Sony DRU500a for love nor money. But im glad i did, so far ive burned 10 CD-Rs at 16x to 24x. I got this writer as an OEM drive, I downloaded Nero and had to update it to the latest one as it didn't support my drive. On burning some songs it crashed, saying that it had a buffer underrun - which i though was standard on the drive. So, i tried Easy CD Creator - which worked brilliantly. Im awaiting DVD-Rs so ill let you know the results i get from it. Definately a great drive! John Comments posted by John Mason from Other, February 16, 2003. Rated this writer 9 of 10. |
