Bought at newegg several months ago, after my Sony DRU-500A died. So far lots of burns: DVD-Video, data CD & DVD; works fine in Windows & Linux. Note: I use only TDK or Verbatim DVD+R or DVD+RW, I don't use DVD-R and rarely use DVD-RW, I mostly use Memorex for CD-R & CD-RW. This burner definitely appears to be a rebadged AOpen. Works great, price is right, no coasters with the above media. Comments posted by greenstar from United States, July 16, 2005. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |

Worked perfect with Verbatim DVD-R 8X from CC with Rosewill RD-162 (rebadged AOpen?). Bunred Staples DVD+R 8X disks, but could not play on Cyberhome CH-DVD300 and only played on my computers. Refused to accept CompUSA DVD-R disks. Comments posted by Eddie from United States, May 31, 2005. Rated this writer No rating. |

For the price you can't beat this burner. I have prob burnt over 100 dvds with his and haven't had any costers. I haven't tried the dual layer yet though waiting on the disks to go down. Comments posted by Jason from United States, May 02, 2005. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |

Purchased through Newegg about 6 weeks ago. Installation instructions leave quite a bit to be desired - if you have never installed a drive before, you are likely to be confused!! Drive was recognized immediately by WinXP as a 16X8 dual layer writer. Nero, as furnished , ver. 6.1, says it is a 12X dual. Have not pushed it beyond 8X as I have no DVD's beyond that speed. Have written to Maxell DVD+RW @ 2.5, Maxell DVD-R and +r at 8X, TDK +R @ 8x, and cheapo CD-r's with no problems so far, except with the Maxell DVD+RW, which I believe was my fault, not the drive. For the money, $53. including very fast shipping, an excellent drive. Ibelieve it is a re-badged Lite-on. Comments posted by dh scheid from United States, April 18, 2005. Rated this writer 9 of 10. |

Had it for a week now. I think it is a rebadged AOpen, but not 100% sure. At any rate, it works very well. It is quiet and pretty fast and had no issues using brand name media whatsoever. However, it DOES NOT work with any PRINCO disks that I've tried to use. But other than that I'd say it is a very good value. Comments posted by camberiu from United States, January 08, 2005. Just purchased this burner for $53 through Newegg (on sale). I've only had it for 2 days, but I've burned several TDK DVD-R discs at 8x with no problem. I haven't tried any DVD+R media, nor DL media. Overall, though, flawless so far. Comments posted by davet from United States, January 04, 2005. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |
