This unit goes for $179 in my area. I got one brand new from Overstock Auctions for $89! It works great! I use Maxel 8x +R and have gotten great results. I only give it a seven because the included backup software from Nero is SLOW!! Comments posted by eGirl from United States, June 12, 2005. Rated this writer 7 of 10. |

I have had no problems of any sort with this burner. I have it connected via usb2 to my old p3-700 Dell. I have burned music and data on cd-r and ripped movies with DVD Shrink onto dvd+r without any problems. I used Fuji 48x and 8x and Maxell 4x media. I got mine for $150 after mail in rebate from J&R Music. I recommend this drive for casual users like myself. Comments posted by Kyle from United States, January 31, 2005. Nothing but problems. going back to the store today. After 5 hours of meesing with it and brining my laptop back to life it is not compatible with Pinnacle Studio 8. Give me a break. Anyone who can point me to a good external burner please let me know. scooter@asylee.net Comments posted by Scott from United States, December 31, 2004. Rated this writer No rating. |

Trust me on this. You're going to make coasters with it. I put this speed demon in my standard Asus motherboard and plugged it in, can't make anything but a coaster. It runs too fast, and won't even get to the burn phase. It ran about a thousand miles per hour, and then, poof, no burn, on CD-Rs, DVD+R, or DVD+RW. I was using Memorex media, with the Memorex drive, on memorex proprietary Nero software. All formats. NOTHING WORKS. I spent hours working on it. When I used Nero, it gave me a failure warning about thirty seconds into the burn. Just enough for me to walk away and wait for my data to be backed up, and boom, nothing. It makes lightning fast coasters. God forbid you should ever buy this drive. Personally, I didn't want the drive because it runs a thousand miles per hour, I wanted it because it had nero. Well, it doesnt have burning rom, it lied, and there is nothing I can do about it. Going back to the store today. Comments posted by Al lucas from United States, December 31, 2004.
