Purchased this drive as a HP dvd1040, but the label on the drive clearly identifies it as Lite-On. After flashing it with the latest overburn capable firmware and enabling overburn / hypertune capablities, I tried a 12x burn on 8x Taiyo Yuden Valueline TYG02 and it scored nearly perfectly on CD DVD Speed (97). It can also do 16x with lower quality (88) -- however the disk still very readable. Very capable drive with the right media. Comments posted by kristiXS from United States, September 04, 2007. Have been burning Prodisc F02 16X DVD-R media at 18X with no problems. These discs play on my Panasonic F87 DVD player flawlessly. A little slow writing lead-ins. Comments posted by Dock from United States, January 24, 2007. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

So far my disk burns have been very impressive. There are currently only 5 media codes that are supported for 20X burning +R(MBIPG101 R05, YUDEN000 T03) and -R(CMC MAG. AM3, SONY16D1, TYG03). My only 20X burn so far came on YUDEN000 T03 +R media rated at 16x. CD/DVD Speed quality scan scored 93. I've also burned several disks at 16X and the lightscribe has also worked well. I've yet to burn any DVD-Ram disks and I really don't plan to. The worst disk I burned scored 88 (MAXELL..002) but most score 93 or 95.
