| This is an excellent reader and writer, the only real drawback being that it doesn't report C1/C2 errors for use with Nero DiscSpeed. However since I have another that does I can get some idea of the quality of its writing. It writes TY T02, CMC MAG E01, and Mitsubishi MCC004 best, but CMC MAG M01 adequately, and Ricoh JPNR03 badly, but I have never had a coaster with any of them. I have not tried any other discs. I can tell from use with EAC that it reads and corrects errors very well. It is not as good at writing CMC CD-Rs in my experience, but I use a Plextor for that, which does very well. | took out a samsung cdrw, plugged in the lg with the same leads and jumper settings. pc would not boot. changed jumper to slave, and now pc will boot but only sees the new drive, not the sony second one i left alone. can not read or write to any disc with it. not happy. | I bought my LG GSA-H10A DVD RAM writer from Yemen and flashed it to version JL04 soon after buying it however, just like the original poster, since updating the firmware the drive will not read any CDs anymore. The CD spins up and the drive 'tries' to read it for a long time but no CD ever reads. I've tried to reverting to version JL03, JL02 and used the RPC-1 firmware of Dangerous Brother but they all have the same problem. Any ideas? Any firmware that will work? | I've got the external dual version of the LG GSA-H10A Got a problem with the IEEE1394 reads on ROM disks. It transpires that if the commercial DVD/CD-ROMS are produced with fat/file structure CDFS they will not play with a IEEE1394 connection (OS system hangs). However if the DVD/CD-ROMS are produced with fat/file structure UDF then they can be read by the OS. Using the USB2 connection instead of Firewire does not reveal a similar misfunction as all DVD/CD-ROMS read OK. Therefore I might conclude that the firewire/IEEE1394 chipset (OXFORD911) or firmware of the drive is malfunctioning in its inability to read CDFS file formats. | ok been using this for last week have done roughly 45 burns to cd and dvd and 2 1 ram burn and all i can say is its a great drive been using lg drives for last 5 years and will contiue using them good with ty ritek maxmax maxdata disk i did flash to new firmware as soon as i got it but i always do that with any drive i have cheers hope it help was $55.00 hear in australia snoop Comments posted by vrsnoop from Australia, June 10, 2006.
