| I see a lot of comment about "having no coaster". Does this mean I should check and verify each DVD once burned to make sure the data is fine? To what extend should I test? | Hi! I'm comfused with this drive. I found it for 105 euro coming with a multilanguage manual saying that writes DVD+DL media yet in LG global site www.lge.com there is nothing about DVD+DL in drive's specification page. Looking forward I got more comfused while I found NEC ND 2510 saying that writes double layer media... what is this? Is it the same thing the double layer and the dual layer or not? | Hi !! I just don't understand why all coments say ".. i just didn't tried dual_layer media... " ... fuck!!.. isn't this what this drives are all about ?!?! Why do you bother comenting if you didn't tested the best of it ?? Ok.. :) bought the drive 1 week ago, tried several media brand (Princo 4X, Budget 4X, Verbatim 8X, HP 2.4X etc) all worked fine; cdr (verbatim) burned ok also . Finaly .. bought yesterday (sold out for the last week) the Verbatim 8.5 Gb 2.4X DL media (11 Euros) and made a full copy of LOTR III 7.5 Gb (+/-) 42 minutes to burn; tested several times on Pioneer 444 and Philips 737 worked 100% from begining to end, no problems at all ! ....... have a nice (holly)day !! | I bought this drive today (August 4th). SO far I've burned 4 DVD-R and no coasters. Here's an interesting fact. I burned 3 with Princo 4x media and forgot to change the speed setting in DVD Decrypter. I put in a ANSI31 1x media and it burnt at 4x. Didn't fail at all. Did all the DVD-Rs in 14 minutes each. I just tried a SmartBuy DVD-R 1-4x and it is burning beautifully. I haven't tried any 8x DVD-R, 12x DVD+R or DVD+R DL, but after all the problems I've had with my Sony DRX-510UL and finding compatible media, this burner is a dream come true. Awesome burner! | I purchased this DVD writer drive from xpcgear.com on the 28th of June for $105.00. I have backed up 5 DVDs using DVD X Copy Platinum on FujiFilm DVDs and have had no problems. The drive installed flawlessly and runs quietly and quickly. So far I have only burned DVD-R so I don't know how well it does on doulble-layered DVDs but I am anxious to find out. | Have found one commercial dvd that this drive would not read. (The Girl with a Pearl Earing). The disc was new and read fine on LG dvd player and Sony DRU-500A. | No problems so far. Writes anything you chuck in it. It should actually write DVD+R at 12 speed, not 8, but I don't have any media for it yet. Still waiting on DL media to give it a go, but bearing in mind that it will cost ~£10 per disc, probably won't bother in the short term....
