bought this unit from altes in austin tx, took it home, installed it, and the system recognizes it, but the over all experience has been a nightmare. first, there were absolutely no instructions in the packaging, and when i tried to run the install disk, i noticed that right out of the sealed envelope, the disk was smudged and scratched. I exchanged it (thank you altex for being so awesome about that) and took the new one home. installed it and the install disk still wont play. i cant get a catalog up, i cant get it to autorun, i cant get that disk to do anything expept make a nice light show in the microwave. aopen tech support is a joke. so now i have a nice medium speed ce reader that i cant even get to read dvd's with out using some trial version of software i dl'd. im super dissapointed and will never buy anything aopen again. Picked this up from www.newegg.com for $100 retail version. So far after a few days of use, no flaws what so ever on Verbatim Digital Movie -R 4x. I am getting burn speeds around 7-7.5 X with this drive on 4x discs. No coasters so far out of about 10 burns. I'll try to keep an update as i use it more. Gonna try some Riteks and some memorex -Rs later this week along with some Verb +r Digital movie discs. Comments posted by goggles from United States, April 16, 2004. Rated this writer 9 of 10. |
