I disasembled my unit,and I figured out that DVD953 is the LG's OEM. You can turn it as multiregion player without hardware modification!! 1.Power on the unit with no disc. 2.Press "PAUSE" on the remote. 3.Enter "3 1 4 1 5 9" on the remote ("CODE 1" will be shown. "1" is the current region code). 4.Press "0" on the remote (0=AUTO, 1,2,...=set region) 5.Press "PAUSE" on the remote. 6.Power the player off, and then back on. | |||

Taking the cue from the previous hack, I found out that in fact this dvd player is a LG OEM and here is the Firmware Display codes Firmware Display 1 Press System Menu 2 Select Tv Aspect 3 Place the cursor on 16:9 wide 4 Enter 1 3 9 7 1 3 9 5 Press Ok in control 6 Press System Menu to exit Look at the pictures in this LG player site http://members.lycos.co.uk/ittroll/ the look familiar to the DVD953, still it is a great player Bad thing about it is that there is no simple Macrovision removal (only hardware hack). And no simple firmware upgrade (requires hardware again) | |||
