You need a remote programmed with the usual Sony 1-2-3-4-5 codes. See player manual for more info. Check there is no disc in drive. Select DVD mode by pressing the DVD button. Set player on standby using the original remote. Press programmed remote buttons 1-2-3-4-5 in order. The player turns on. Press programmed remote buttons 1-2-3-4-5 again. The player displays "TIMER OK" and turns off. Turn player on using the original remote and set both player and remote command mode back to DVD3. | |||

I have succeeded to make my RDR-HX825 (CH, zone 2) region free. I have used an iPAQ PDA with TV remote controller software and followed the next steps : 1. Change command mode to DVD1 : Select ‘Others’ from the setup menu and press enter. Select command mode and press enter. Select command mode DVD1. Set the command mode for the remote so that it matches by holding down the enter key and pressing ‘1’ for more than 3 seconds. 2. Download and install the evaluation version of TV remote controller on the PDA : http://www.pdawin.com/tvremote.html 3. In TV remote software, load the following ccf file : http://www.xs4all.nl/~pbonnet/sony.zip 4. Turn on the DVD and select DVD mode (with tray empty). 5. With the PDA send the following sequence : 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 5 5 6. The DVD displays “TIMER OK” and turns to stand by mode. 7. When you turn DVD on again it will be code free. |
