I have had no problem previously burning Blu ray movies using IMGBURN software with my external blu ray writer LG BEO6LU10. Since a power outage, I am able to write to an ISO file without a problem. Cyberlink Advisor (program comes with the burner)shows all green lights for every system requirement prior to the write and attempted burn (incl. blu ray disc drive present). When attempting to burn to a BD - RE disc (with a movie already on the disc to be overwritten) the burn starts with a usual write rate which, after a few seconds, changes to 0KB/s (0.0x). Image Burn states that it is writing sectors and still keeps counting up the time. Previous burns have have always shown a write rate and starts burning after about a minute or so (2X speed). When I check Cyberlink Advisor it shows a red light for the Blu ray Disc drive - indicating no blu ray drive is found. Are you able to help? Is this problem with the burner? i have unplugged and plugged it in again in the correct order. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all programs that came with the cd (including , I gather, the device drivers). The burner still refuses to burn. I have Nero HD plug in and ANYHDDVD. LG says because I am able to play blu ray that it shouldn't be a problem with the burner and that I should re-install the IMGBURN software which I have done to no avail. IMGBURN forum says the blu ray drive must be sticking - I am at my wit's end and have lost several blu ray discs as a result of continually trying to sort the problem. As I said before, I have burnt many discs in the past with no problem. I have just installed an external hard drive to park the iso images - surely this cannot be causing a problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

HiI do not have an external Blu Ray burner like yours. I have GGW-H20L internal burner.
I have been burning BD-R and BD-RE discs for about 4 weeks now.

One thing to notice is this: when you are using Imgburn, it will print a message line in the lower (log window)
saying something like "if you are using AnyDVD, you might want to disable it before burning".
You migh twant to try this. Just a suggestion.

I would second the other poster, disable AnyDVD when burning anything. You might try burning a normal DVD and see if that works. You mentioned a power outage, was the drive in use when it happened?

    Thanks for your input.

I have found the solution. My problem started when I installed an external hard drive. My wife kept telling me this, but being a male I didn't listen. I had this in the back of my mind but didn't think it would have caused the problem. Anyhow, I unplugged the hard drive and, lo and behold, the burner works perfectly.

Can anyone suggest why this was a problem? I am pleased I can now start burning again but it means I will have to plug and unplug the external hard drive- not to mention the wasted discs (ouch!).

FYI: I use ImgBurn (excellent) and NERO HD plug in with ANYHDDVD for encryption (even though it is supposed to be incompatable with ImgBurn & One Click DVDPRO) & TDK or SONY printable BD discs from Japanese e-bay sellers.

Hope this of help to others.

My best guess is that the HDD was 'hogging' the interface. If the burner doesn't get exclusive use of it, that could cause a problem. Especially if you were using a USB interface. eSATA shouldn't have any problems with a couple of external drives.

I use AnyDVD HD and haven't had any burning problems using ImgBurn. I don't burn BD discs but have burned several dual layer discs, along with quite a few single layer DVDs with it installed.

  6. If both these devices are plugged into the USb ports that could be where your problems are.. also if you are storing the source on the usb hard drive and trying to burn to the usb blu ray drive? well its asking for trouble. It could be that your leads are not inserted securely causing problems too.
See .. iT is worth filling in the computer details (profile) as they might help in solving problems. Steer clear of USB hubs and make sure you have installed SP2 AND your motherboard USb drivers. usb1.1 and usb2.0
