    Hey i have a folder with 3 VOB's

I want to burn these onto a dvd to watch, ive tried using imgburn to 'create image file from files/folders' & i then burn the image file to dvd but then the dvd doesnt play back the files, its done just like a data disc....

Ive also tried using DVD Shrink to open the VOB folders then reauthor but it doesnt like the files...

I really want to get these VOB's into an ISO format that i can burn to playback DVD's or to extract & get the VOBs back for editing in sony vegas

    Im really stuck

I also have videoredo if that could help?

Thanks in advance for any help

If you just have vob files you must author it to a dvd-video. Try use dvdauthorgui or guifordvdauthor and add the vobs. Burn the video_ts folder using imgburn.

If you want to edit the video in vegas then try videoredo and open the vobs as save as mpg and import it in vegas(it might be enough to rename to mpg also).

The VOBs are fine in vegas (i have 5 which is okay for VOB's)

My main problem was i usually use DVDShrink for extracting & for converting to ISO

I save all my work as ISO's so i can either quickly burn that ISO for friends or extract form the ISO for more editing...

What im trying now is dragging the VOB's into videoredo & then creating a menuless dvd from there, hopefully i can then just save that ISO

When you say burn the video TS with imgburn, how?

If i goto 'write folders to disc' it just puts the videoTS folder on the dvd liek a data disc...

None of the above are working...

Im resorting to opening the VOB's in vegas & then rendering to mpg, then authoring with architect

Where did these VOBs come from ?

The DVD Structure is a video_TS folder containing IFO, BUP and VOB files. These are created during the authoring process. VOB files on their own do not make a DVD. Some encoders output VOB files, but these are usually simply mpg files with a changed file extension - not true VOBs.

If all these VOBs come from a single title on an existing DVD then you can re-create the IFO and BUP files using IFOEdit's Create IFO function.

If not, use VOB2MPG to remux the files as mpg, and author a new disc as described earlier by Baldrick.

Once you have a Video_TS folder, open the latest version of Imgburn, select Write files/folders to Disc from the opening simple menu, select the Video_TS folder, and burn.

VideoRedo has done the job for me, its good because it joins/combines the VOB's so when i reauthor i have one main title not 3 different ones...

Its also good because i can save as ISO to backup, burn DVD's & extract later to re-edit, or i can save as mpg then use that in DVD Architect to make a dvd but with better titles etc...VideoRedo also seems to be good for keeping quality...

Thanks for the help, if id only just used VideoRedo in the first place!

Maybe for freeware i could also have used VOBmerger to make one VOB, then convert that one VOB into an MPG wiith VOB to MPG, then author the MPG...

Theres still one file (2 VOB's) thats not working, tried VOBmerger, videoredo, the only way i can seem to get this one to work is put the files in vegas then render as mpg2, which takes forever

VOBs are not designed for anything but playback. Why you are using VOBs for editing or anything else is beyond me, but it will only bring you problems.
