I succesfully made my Philips 622 player region free using my laptop (IR and Windows 98) to send the RC6 code and the dvd player's remote control to enter the code. On http://reijndert.homelinux.com/ you can find the software you need.

I just tried the hack listed on this page and it worked perfectly. You just have to remember to have the disk tray out when you do it(can press and hold stop button to pop it out). Just a note i was able to play a PAL DVD in this player, this ablility is noted on there website but not on the box. "here is how to unlock philips dvd 622 using IR * Open the tray NO DISC * Press 2812 on the remote * Continue pressing OK till you get 9 displayed on the screen * Power off and switch on. The player should now be region free "

We just purchased a 622/37 today (3/4/2006) at Walmart. We could play Pal format dvd's that had been copied, but we had to use the previously listed hack to get it to work on new dvd's and the hack worked great. Just wanted to let everyone know that it is still working. Here is the hack again: * Open the tray NO DISC * Press 2812 on the remote * Continue pressing OK till you get 9 displayed on the screen * Power off and switch on. Thank you to those who previously listed this hack!

MULTIZONA!!! EN INGLES ESPANTOSO!! Them passage in english exactly since there is to do: with the open car (outside) to press 2812 to maintain tight “OK a little while” when it appears a window in the screen indicating I number of zone (region CEBB) to press button “OK” repeated times until it indicates “9” to extinguish from the control and… ALREADY THIS! MULTIZONE!

The 2812 hack with more detail for the clueless like me: 1. Connect DVD player to your TV, turn both on, remove any disc that might be in the player and close door. 2. Press and hold Stop button on the remote (not the one on the player) until door reopens 3. With default background displayed on TV (blueish image of disc center with PHILIPS on disc), press 2812 on remote. Region menu will be displayed. 4. Press OK on remote until region changes to 9 5. Power off DVD player (with Region menu still displayed showing 9) 6. Wait 2 minutes (according to some others' directions) then turn player back on. |
