Download the firmware recovery disc from the manufacturer. Open the .iso image file in an editor like UltraISO. Modify the /settings/VisorSettings.xml and /settings/VisorFactorySettings.xml files on the disc so that the <dvdregion> tag contains the value "Region Free" (no quotes). Install the modified firmware on the player. A pre-modified copy of the current firmware recovery disc is available at http://www.kevinyank.com/z500series/ | |||

Please note, the above hack does not work as intended. Indeed, it is reported to render the unit non-functional until the original manufacturer's firmware is restored using the original firmware disc. | |||

This is the "hack" to reset to factory defaults "blindly" . In "Main Menu" (or just after player have booted) enter: 26845 via the remote control. | |||
