The method described in other NS models works also for the NS52. http://www.selen.org/sonydvd.html. I used an old Pentium 133 laptop with IR. I sent the codes 1,2,3,4,5 (not 1,1,2,2,.. etc) and got "success" on the DVD player. I was able to play a region 3 in the region 2 player. | |||

The following Palm hack mentioned by G the Greek for the DVP-NS33 worked for my DVP-NS52P (initially Region 2 only) bought in Switzerland. I used an old IBM Workpad c3. Now I can play my Region 1 disks! --------------------------- Hack (published elsewhere): Prerequisites: 1. A palm device. Anyone will do. I used a very old handspring visor. 2. An evaluation version of Omniremote software from http://www.pacificneotek.com/. Process: 1. Open the OmniRemote application and create a new section for the DVD player. 2. Create 5 buttons. Number and label the buttons 1 -> 5. 3. Use the advanced->databases [export category] to export the data to memopad. 4. Sync the palm and paste the data into memo pad form. 5. Re-sync the palm 7. Do the opposite action and use advanced->databases [import category] and import the updated configuration file. 8. As a good test and to simplify the process create one more button for power on-off. Create the button and use the learning function to copy it from your regular remote control. 9. With the DVD player in standby and no disc in the tray press button 1 -> 5 twice in turn. (1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5) If it has worked the DVD player will switch on and show "SUCCESS" on the display. Then press the power button once more and the hack is done. | |||
