	Works for DVD421 & DVD451: Open disc tray Press 'Setup' on the remote Then press 'Next, Prev, Next, Prev.' Enter region code setup: Ver 255 = Region free Ver 1 = Region 1 Ver 2 = Region 2 Press left (<) or right (>) key Press Down key twice Ver 4001 = macrovision enable Ver 4000 = macrovision disable Press left (<) or right (>) key

	In the SETUP menu, NEXT, PREV, NEXT, PREV there are two more options. 3000/3001 5000/5001 one of these enables VCD play (on delivery this feature is disabled). still at a loss as to what the other one does

	Combination of front panel & remote control REGION FREE 1 Power on & open the tray by any means 2 Press SETUP on the remote control to display the menu 3 On the front panel press NEXT, PREV, NEXT, PREV 4 A code like VER2 should appear in top right corner 5 On remote control use right direction button (NEXT) till you reach 255 - then you have REGION FREE 6 Now follow on to ..... or go to step 12 MACROVISION DISABLE 7 On remote control press the down direction button in single presses until VER 4001 appears in top right corner 8 On remote control press PREV button once so that it displays VER 4000 - then you have MACROVISION OFF 9 Now follow on to ..... or go to step 12 VCD/SVCD ENABLE 10 On remote control press the down direction button in single presses until VER 5001 appears in top right corner 11 On remote control press PREV button once so that it displays VER 5000 - then you have VCD ON 12 CLOSE OFF THE OPERATION BY PRESSING SETUP on the the remote control.

	Just got a 421 from richersound for £29.99, it's a region 2 but the hacks do not turn off the macrovision or enable multi-region. I suspect that accoustic research have blocked these hacks but at £29.99 for the kids playroom it's a great player. I have played DVD+R/RW and SVCD without any problems at all.

	I have tried this hack with the 421, 451 & 651 models. I'm afraid nothing is doing on this one. The macrovision is only available on the 651 and this doesn't help on the region-free/ region setting features. All my non region 2 disks disks get skipping, pixellation problems, discolouring....you name it. As has been said above, I've think they've blocked this, probably due to popularity with purchases from Richer Sounds. Amusingly, it plays region 2's flawlessly and SVCD's are probably better quality!! Still, at the moment the CyberHome CH 400 & 402 are worth a go.
