Turn player on without a disc inside. Wait until the words "No Disc" appears in the display.
With the remote press the "Set Up" button. The TV screen will display 5 'folders' AUDIO 1, AUDIO 2, VIDEO. LANGUAGE, GENERAL.
Select General by pressing the right arrow key located in the middle of the remote control. When General is highlighted enter the folder by pressing the down arrow key.
A sub folder with 2 boxes will appear with the words "EXPERT" and "BASIC". Make sure that "BASIC" is highlighted by a small box nrxt to it.
Press "OSD" button on the remote. The region that the player is set to will be displayed on the TV screen
Press "CONDITION MEMORY" on the remote followed by the region code you want using the 1-6 preset numbers at the top of the remote conyrol.
Finally press "SET UP" on the remote to enter the region
You can change to any region ANY number of times.

This also works for model DV-17.

In fact, at least on the 17, it is possible to change regions more easily. When the player spits out a disk of the "wrong" region, simply press Setup, then type the number of the disk's region. This will display on screen. Press Setup again to exit. The disk, and all disks of that region, will now be accepted.
